Pine Island Firestation - Established in 1963, the Matlacha Pine Island Fire Control District has a paid staff of 33 and a volunteer staff of 10. We protect 45 square miles with three manned fire stations. Our personnel answered 1,286 emergency calls in 2006, while in 2007 we ran 1,504 with an average response time of approximately five and one half minutes.
The Matlacha Pine Island Fire Control District provides basic life support, rescue service, fire inspections, public fire education and boat operations to a coastal island of approximately 15,000 residents.
